Huss was Right

Pope Alexander III published indulgences and ordered the angels to take away the souls of those who had died on the journey to Rome. John Huss said at the time that this was avarice. He was accordingly summoned to Rome, but he sent his deputies there, and afterward a council was called. So the cause of Huss is also mine. He rebelled against the indulgence for St. Peter’s Church, and in the year 1415 he was put to death. His opposition lasted only two years. ‘In another hundred years,’ he said, ‘you will have to pay attention and you won’t be able to stop it.’
