The Drastic Gospel

The gospel of Jesus Christ does not come to you with vague, useless idealisms and generalities, it is thorough-going and drastic. It lays its axes to the root of the trees. it convicts you of your sin and exposes your foulness. It lays bare your need, but, praise God, with equal thoroughness it deals with it. It convicts! Yes! But it also saves, and saves to all eternity. The work is done. It is already completed. You have nothing to do but to believe it, to accept, to act upon it by turning to God tonight, thanking Him for His Son and consecrating your life to Him for ever. ‘Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance’ (Lk. 3:8).
